In Loving Memory: Karen Anne Bertrand, 43, of Collingwood, Ontario

COLLINGWOOD, ON — With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the community of Collingwood mourns the passing of Karen Anne Bertrand, who died peacefully on June 23, 2025, at the age of 43. Surrounded by her loving family in hospice care, Karen’s final moments were filled with the same grace, courage, and warmth that defined her life.

Born and raised in Edenvale, Karen was a vibrant presence from an early age — a passionate athlete, a determined student, and a loyal friend. Whether on the playing field or in the classroom, she led with strength, compassion, and authenticity. Those who knew her in childhood speak of her tenacity, her unshakable optimism, and her remarkable ability to lift others up.

Karen later made her home in Collingwood, where she and her husband Adam built a life full of love, laughter, and purpose. The joy of her life was found in her two sons, Gavin and Cole, whom she cherished with all her heart. To them, she was not only a mother, but also a guide, a role model, and a fierce protector. She took pride in every moment — from school milestones to family camping trips — and poured her soul into nurturing their futures.

Karen was known by many as a woman with a fierce spirit and a generous heart. She faced life’s challenges with bravery and refused to let hardship define her. Even during her illness, she continued to inspire those around her with resilience, humor, and deep gratitude for every day she was given.

Her commitment to community was equally impactful. Karen volunteered regularly at her sons’ schools, supported local causes, and was often found at Collingwood events, lending a helping hand or cheering others on. She built lasting friendships wherever she went and touched lives with her authenticity and unwavering kindness.

In her final days, Karen was cared for with immense love, and the outpouring of support from neighbors, friends, and extended family was a testament to the impact she had on the lives around her. Her presence — always uplifting, always real — will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband Adam, sons Gavin and Cole, her parents, siblings, extended family, and a large network of friends whose hearts are broken by her passing but full of gratitude for the time they shared with her.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming days in Collingwood, where loved ones will gather to honor Karen’s memory with stories, laughter, and the love she so freely gave. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation or a local youth sports program, causes close to Karen’s heart.

Though her physical presence is gone, Karen Anne Bertrand’s spirit will live on — in the lives of her sons, the strength of her friendships, and the legacy of love and courage she leaves behind.

Rest peacefully, Karen. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
