In Loving Memory of Ashton M. Nanninga Beloved Daughter, Friend, and Community Member

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. — It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Ashton M. Nanninga, who died on June 25, 2025, at the age of 28 in her beloved hometown of Nebraska City. Ashton’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in the lives of her family, friends, and the community she so graciously served.

Ashton was a woman of vibrant spirit, unwavering kindness, and tireless creativity. Known for her warm heart and joyful demeanor, she touched countless lives through both her personal relationships and professional endeavors. A proud Nebraskan, Ashton was not only admired for her dedication as a professional but also beloved for her deep community involvement and passion for bringing joy to others through her talents.

One of Ashton’s most treasured ventures was her cottage bakery, Cake ‘n Crumb, a small business born from her love of baking and artistic flair. Her cakes, pastries, and desserts became a local staple—celebrated not only for their deliciousness but for the heartfelt care she poured into each creation. Whether it was a birthday, wedding, or casual weekend treat, her baked goods brought joy to so many and left a sweet mark on the city.

Beyond her life as a baker, Ashton was also an avid marathon runner, often seen training on local trails with her signature determination and bright smile. She approached running the same way she approached life—with discipline, resilience, and joy. Those who knew her describe her as endlessly motivated, with a love for nature and a heart for helping others reach their goals.

Ashton’s life was a beautiful example of living with intention, creativity, and compassion. She volunteered with local events, supported small businesses, and always found time to cheer on friends and family. Her laughter, her energy, and her generosity of spirit made Nebraska City a brighter place.

She leaves behind a grieving yet grateful circle of loved ones who will carry her memory forward with love and admiration. Ashton is survived by her family and many friends whose lives were uplifted by her presence.

A memorial service honoring Ashton’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2025, at Calvary Community Church in Nebraska City, where friends and community members are welcome to gather, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable person she was.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ashton’s name to a local charity or cause she believed in—particularly those supporting youth athletics or small business development.

Ashton M. Nanninga’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the dreams she inspired, and the sweet, strong imprint she left on her community.

Rest in peace, Ashton. You will be missed beyond measure, but never forgotten.
