Heather passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, leadership, and unwavering dedication to her students, colleagues, and family.
Heather served as Vice Principal at Leslie Thomas Junior High with distinction and heartfelt purpose. Her commitment to education, student growth, and staff mentorship earned her deep respect throughout the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. She was not only a school leader but also a source of calm strength, always ready to uplift those around her. Her ability to connect with students and support fellow educators made her presence irreplaceable.
Beyond her professional achievements, Heather was a devoted wife. She is survived by her husband, Jerome J. Bernier, who lovingly shared, “I will miss you more than you can ever imagine. You rest in peace, my love. Till we meet again. We got this, Heather.” The strength of their bond and the depth of Jerome’s words speak volumes about the love and life they built together.
