Porterville, California | April 30, 2025
With heavy hearts and immeasurable sorrow, we share the devastating news of the passing of Jaretzi Barran Sibaja, a cherished daughter, sister, friend, and blossoming young woman whose life ended far too soon at the age of 19. Jaretzi departed from this world on April 30, 2025, leaving behind a community deeply shaken by her loss, yet forever touched by her light.
Jaretzi was more than a name; she was a presence. Born and raised in Porterville, California, she was a young woman of deep dreams and unstoppable ambition. At just 19, she was already making her mark in the world of cosmetology, a field that perfectly reflected her love for creativity, beauty, and self-expression. Her passion for her craft was evident in every brushstroke of makeup, every curl of hair, and every person she uplifted with her work.
Those who knew Jaretzi will remember her radiant energy—a smile that could brighten the darkest day and a laugh that echoed with joy. She had a special gift for making others feel seen, loved, and valued. Whether she was helping someone find their confidence through a makeover or offering a listening ear to a friend in need, Jaretzi gave of herself without hesitation. Her generous heart, artistic soul, and vibrant personality made her a beloved figure in her community, school, and beyond.
She loved art in all its forms—from the intricate designs she created with makeup and hair, to her sketches, playlists, and the vivid colors she brought into everyday life. Her eyes lit up when she talked about her dreams: to open her own salon one day, to travel, to give back to her family who supported her so dearly, and to keep growing as both an artist and a human being.
Jaretzi’s roots trace back to Mexico, and she was deeply proud of her heritage. Her cultural identity was a constant source of inspiration, joy, and pride. It is now the family’s heartfelt wish to lay her to rest in her homeland, surrounded by the traditions and people that meant so much to her.
In the face of this tragic loss, her family is navigating unimaginable grief while also handling the financial burden of saying goodbye. A fundraiser has been established to help cover funeral costs and assist in returning Jaretzi to Mexico, where she will be honored in accordance with her family’s traditions and love.
We invite everyone—friends, neighbors, classmates, and those moved by her story—to support the Barran Sibaja family during this time. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help ensure Jaretzi is celebrated and remembered with the dignity and grace she so richly deserves.
Let us come together not only to mourn the loss of a young woman whose life held so much promise but to celebrate the beauty of her spirit, the impact of her kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. In honoring Jaretzi, we hold tight to the memories, the laughter, and the lessons she leaves behind.
Jaretzi Barran Sibaja may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved her and through the lives she touched.
Rest in peace, sweet Jaretzi.
You were—and will always be—a light in this world.
