In Loving Memory of Travis, Candace, Aubrey, and Walker Buchanan

Posted on July 9, 2025 by Usainsightreport

With immeasurable sorrow, the community of Sanford, NC mourns the tragic loss of an entire family following a heartbreaking plane crash near the Sanford Raleigh Executive Airport on July 7, 2025. Travis and Candace Buchanan, both aged 35, and their children, Aubrey (10) and Walker (9), lost their lives when their small aircraft crashed as they were returning home from a cherished family beach trip.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and authorities have yet to determine the cause of the accident. What is clear, however, is the profound void this tragedy has left in the hearts of family, friends, and the entire Sanford community.

The Buchanans were well-known and deeply respected members of the local area, recognized for their strong family values, community involvement, and for founding Buchanan Farms—a family-run business that stood not only as a source of livelihood but as a symbol of hard work, unity, and love. Their farm was more than land and livestock; it was a gathering place, a teaching space, and a shared labor of love that reflected the very best of rural life and family commitment.

Travis and Candace were high school sweethearts whose bond only grew stronger with time. They were known for their kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to their children. They built a life rooted in faith, family, and purpose — values they passed on daily to Aubrey and Walker, two children described as bright, joyful, and full of promise.

Aubrey and Walker were students at Grace Christian School, where their presence lit up classrooms and playgrounds alike. In a heartfelt statement, the school expressed its condolences:

“Aubrey and Walker brought joy and light to our school family. Their kindness, curiosity, and friendship touched the lives of many. We are devastated by this loss and are surrounding their extended family and friends with our deepest prayers and support.”

As tributes pour in from across the region, so many have shared memories of the Buchanan family — moments filled with laughter, warmth, community service, and a steadfast love for one another. From church gatherings and school events to farm tours and local markets, the Buchanans were a cornerstone of Sanford life.

In the days to come, services to honor Travis, Candace, Aubrey, and Walker will be announced, and a growing number of residents have already offered support, prayers, and donations to assist surviving relatives and honor the family’s legacy. Community members are also organizing a memorial event to celebrate the lives of these four remarkable souls who were taken far too soon.

Though no words can ease the magnitude of this heartbreak, we remember the Buchanans not by the tragic way they left us, but by the extraordinary way they lived — together, faithfully, and with hearts full of love.

Rest in peace, Travis, Candace, Aubrey, and Walker Buchanan.

You will never be forgotten. Your love lives on in the lives you touched and the community you helped shape.
