Jackson, Mississippi — Quinton Boggan

The Jackson community is grieving after a tragic night that shook neighborhoods across the city. Authorities confirmed that 39-year-old Quinton Boggan tragically passed away following a shooting on the 2100 block of Thousand Oaks Drive around 7:30 p.m. on October 23, 2025. The incident occurred alongside a separate four-vehicle crash on Lakeland Drive that left two individuals injured, further adding to the evening’s sorrow.

Quinton Boggan was immediately transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) by emergency personnel. Despite the rapid response and efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. The loss has left his family, friends, and the broader Jackson community in deep shock.

Authorities swiftly responded to the scene of the shooting, securing the area and beginning an investigation into the circumstances. Interim Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones emphasized that public safety remains a priority as investigators work to piece together the events that led to the tragic incident.

Following the shooting, 18-year-old Christopher Nicholson was arrested and charged with capital murder. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Nicholson is currently in custody as the investigation continues. Community members have expressed both concern and hope that justice will be carried out through proper legal channels.

Friends and neighbors of Boggan have shared heartfelt memories and stories of his life, describing him as a devoted father, loyal friend, and respected community member. Many recall his involvement in local events and his willingness to support those around him, painting a picture of a man who made a meaningful impact.

The four-vehicle crash on Lakeland Drive occurred later the same evening, leaving two individuals injured. Emergency responders provided immediate medical attention, and the injured were transported to local hospitals. Authorities are investigating whether any factors linked the crash to the earlier shooting, although preliminary reports suggest the incidents were separate.

Local officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any information that could aid ongoing investigations. Law enforcement continues to gather evidence and speak with witnesses from both incidents, aiming to ensure a thorough understanding of the night’s tragic events.

The community has begun rallying around the families affected, offering support through social media messages, neighborhood initiatives, and visits. These efforts reflect the strong sense of solidarity in Jackson and highlight the city’s resilience in the face of sorrowful events.

City leaders have also called for increased awareness around safety and conflict prevention, emphasizing the importance of community engagement and support networks. “We are committed to keeping Jackson safe and supporting families during these difficult times,” Interim Police Chief Tyree Jones stated.

As Jackson mourns the loss of Quinton Boggan, the community reflects on the importance of unity, compassion, and remembrance. His life, though tragically cut short, left a lasting impression on those who knew him. While authorities continue their work to ensure justice, neighbors and friends are coming together to honor his memory and support each other through a difficult period.
