Jamestown Woman Arrested for Child Abuse After Infant Suffers Fractured Arm; Operated Unlicensed Daycare Despite Revoked License

A Jamestown woman, 55-year-old Deborah E. Jespersen, has been arrested on serious charges involving child abuse and unauthorized childcare operations. The arrest follows an investigation initiated after a 6-month-old child suffered a spiral fracture of the arm while under Jespersen’s care .

On April 29, 2025, Jamestown Police received reports of a 6-month-old infant sustaining a spiral fracture of the arm while in the care of an unlicensed childcare provider. Following an 11-day investigation, authorities executed a search warrant at Jespersen’s residence on May 9, seizing evidence related to the alleged crimes .

Charges

Jespersen faces a Class A felony charge of child abuse involving a victim under 6 years old and a Class B misdemeanor for providing early childhood services after her license had been revoked . She is currently held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center pending formal charges from the Stutsman County State’s Attorney .(
