Latricia Gunned Down at Work by Ex-Husband in Hospital Basement Tragedy

Posted on August 22, 2025 by Usainsightreport

In Detroit, a chilling act of violence unfolded on the morning of August 22, 2025, shattering the routine calm of Henry Ford Hospital. Latricia, a dedicated hospital employee, was gunned down in the basement of the facility by her ex-husband, Mario Green, in a crime that has left the community reeling. What began as a verbal altercation spiraled into a deadly confrontation, revealing a harrowing story of domestic strife and a desperate manhunt for a suspect still at large.

The incident erupted just before 10 a.m. in the hospital’s basement, a restricted area where Latricia, a 40-year-old woman who poured her heart into her work, was confronted by Green. Described as a 65-year-old Bloomfield Hills resident, Green allegedly engaged in a heated argument with his former spouse. The dispute, rooted in a domestic history marked by tension—evidenced by a personal protection order Latricia had filed against him a month prior—escalated with terrifying speed. Green drew a handgun and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding Latricia. The hospital, a beacon of healing, became a crime scene in an instant.

As the sound of gunfire echoed through the basement, panic gripped the facility. A “code blue” alert blared over the loudspeakers, signaling an active shooter situation. Staff scrambled to secure hallways, ushering patients and visitors into safe areas like the surgery prep rooms. One witness, Carmen, who was at the hospital for a family member’s procedure, described the chaos: “We heard yelling, then a nurse rushed us into the patient prep area. Minutes later, they told us there was an active shooter in the basement.” The hospital was plunged into lockdown, with armed ATF agents and Detroit police swarming the scene at 2799 West Grand Boulevard, their presence a stark contrast to the institution’s mission of care.

Security footage captured Green’s chilling exit. At approximately 9:55 a.m., the 6-foot-4 suspect, dressed in all black and adorned with a gold chain, fled through the hospital’s front entrance. He sped off in a white 2011 Dodge Charger, bearing Michigan license plate DXC7067, last seen heading north on the Lodge Freeway. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison, addressing a shaken public, declared Green armed and dangerous, urging residents to report any sightings immediately. “We expect to have him in custody very soon,” Bettison said, his voice steady but resolute, “but we need the community’s help.”

The lockdown, which lasted roughly 45 minutes, was lifted after police confirmed Green had fled, giving the “all-clear” to a rattled hospital staff. Dana Jay, Henry Ford Health’s public relations manager, assured the public that operations had resumed, but the weight of the tragedy lingered. The streets outside remained closed as law enforcement, including Michigan State Police and federal agents, continued their investigation, combing through evidence to piece together how Green gained access to the basement.

For those inside, the morning was a blur of fear and disbelief. Mike, a visitor whose girlfriend had just given birth, recounted the surreal scene: “Police were running with guns drawn. I couldn’t go anywhere—it was chaos.” The hospital, a cornerstone of Detroit’s healthcare system, became a stark reminder of the reach of domestic violence, its sanctity violated by a deeply personal act of vengeance.

As the manhunt for Mario Green intensifies, questions swirl about the motive and the breach in security that allowed such a tragedy to unfold. Latricia’s death, a life cut short in a place meant to preserve it, has sparked outrage and sorrow. The community now waits, vigilant and grieving, as police scour the city for a man whose actions have left an indelible scar on Detroit’s heart.
