Latricia ‘Zo-Zo’ Brown Killed by Ex-Husband in Henry Ford Hospital Basement; Security Footage Shows Suspect Fleeing

Posted on August 22, 2025 by Usainsightreport

In Detroit, a routine morning at Henry Ford Hospital turned into a scene of chaos and heartbreak on August 22, 2025. Before 10 a.m., the hospital’s basement became the stage for a devastating act of violence that claimed the life of Latricia “Zo-Zo” Green, also known as Latricia Brown, a beloved hospital employee. The perpetrator, her ex-husband, Mario Green, a 65-year-old man from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, allegedly shot and killed her in a chilling act that has left the community reeling and authorities scrambling.

The tragedy unfolded in a restricted area of the hospital’s basement, where Latricia, a dedicated worker in her early 40s, was confronted by Green. According to Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison, the encounter began with a heated verbal altercation. In a matter of moments, Green produced a handgun and fired multiple shots, fatally wounding his ex-wife. The sound of gunfire echoed through the hospital, triggering a “code blue” alert that sent staff and patients into a frenzy. Witnesses described frantic shouting as hospital personnel rushed to secure hallways and protect those within the facility.

Latricia, known to friends and family as “Zo-Zo,” was a vibrant presence, her life tragically cut short in a place where she worked to care for others. A relative’s heart-wrenching post on Facebook captured the raw grief felt by those who knew her: “I’m sorry Latricia Zo-Zo Green. I should have done more as your cousin and someone who protects… Love you so much, this is hurting us right now.” Her death has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and colleagues, with Henry Ford Health expressing their devastation in a statement: “We are devastated by the loss of our Henry Ford Hospital teammate and our hearts go out to her loved ones—her family, friends, and the people she worked with every day.”

As the hospital went into lockdown, armed ATF agents and Detroit police swarmed the scene, sweeping the facility to ensure no other victims were harmed. The lockdown has since been lifted, and the hospital has resumed normal operations, but the basement remains an active crime scene as investigators piece together the events. Authorities are grappling with a critical question: how did Green bypass the hospital’s metal detectors, a security measure installed after a notorious 1988 incident at another Detroit hospital? The breach has sparked serious concerns about hospital safety and the escalating nature of domestic violence.

Mario Green, described as a 6-foot-4 Black man, was last seen wearing all black with a gold chain necklace, a figure captured on security footage as he fled the hospital through the front entrance at approximately 9:55 a.m. He escaped in a white 2011 Dodge Charger, bearing the Michigan license plate DXC 7067, last seen heading north on the John C. Lodge Freeway. Police have labeled him armed and dangerous, urging the public not to approach him but to call 911 with any sightings. “We expect to have him in custody very, very shortly,” Chief Bettison stated, emphasizing the urgency of the manhunt while appealing for community assistance.

Green’s criminal history adds a layer of complexity to the tragedy. Court records reveal he was released from probation in June 2025 for failing to pay child support, with prior convictions for aggravated stalking and arson, as well as multiple probation violations. Reports also indicate that a protective order was in place but had not been served on Green, a missed opportunity that authorities lament as a factor in the events leading to Latricia’s death. “Unfortunately, it was not served on her ex-husband, so it almost brings us here today,” a police spokesperson told ABC Detroit affiliate WXYZ.

The shooting, believed to stem from a domestic dispute, was an isolated act, distinct from another violent incident near the hospital earlier that morning that left one dead and another injured. Yet the proximity and timing of these events have shaken Detroit, amplifying calls for stronger security measures and protections against domestic violence. Henry Ford Health has committed to cooperating fully with the police investigation while conducting an internal review to address how such a breach occurred. “The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and team members is our greatest priority,” the hospital stated, promising resources to support staff grappling with the trauma of the incident.

As the manhunt for Mario Green intensifies, the city of Detroit holds its breath, hoping for swift justice for Latricia “Zo-Zo” Green. Her memory lingers as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence, a life lost in a place meant for healing, and a community left to mourn a woman taken too soon.
