Little Elm Police Arrest Former LEISD Custodian on Child Abuse Charges

Posted on May 29, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Little Elm, TX – May 29, 2025 — A troubling case of alleged child abuse has emerged in Little Elm, Texas, after local law enforcement arrested a former school custodian on serious charges. On Tuesday, May 28, 2025, the Little Elm Police Department took 64-year-old Eric Lazaro Landaverde into custody following an investigation into allegations of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child—a first-degree felony under Texas law.

Landaverde, a former employee of the Little Elm Independent School District (LEISD), worked as a custodian at one of the district’s elementary schools. His arrest stems from a report filed by a concerned parent who suspected inappropriate interactions between Landaverde and a minor student on school grounds. The allegations prompted an immediate investigation by local authorities, carried out in close collaboration with LEISD officials.

According to a statement released by the Little Elm Police Department, the school district responded swiftly and cooperatively once the allegations were brought forward. “LEISD has been fully supportive throughout the process, ensuring that the safety and well-being of students remain a top priority,” the department said.

The charge of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child is among the most serious child abuse-related offenses in Texas, reserved for cases where repeated sexual abuse occurs over a prolonged period. The law requires that the victim be younger than 14 years old and that the abuse includes multiple acts over at least 30 days. Convictions under this statute carry severe penalties, including a minimum of 25 years to life imprisonment without parole.

As of now, authorities have not publicly disclosed the number of potential victims involved or the specific timeline of the alleged abuse. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with additional information or concerns to come forward.

“We understand the community’s concern and want to assure parents and residents that this case is being handled with the utmost seriousness,” the department stated. “Our detectives are actively pursuing all leads and gathering evidence to ensure justice is served.”

The Little Elm Police Department is requesting that anyone with relevant information contact their Criminal Investigations Division. Individuals can call the non-emergency number at 214-975-0460 or email [email protected] to speak with investigators. All tips and communications will be handled with sensitivity and confidentiality.

In response to the arrest, Little Elm ISD has reiterated its commitment to student safety, noting that Landaverde is no longer employed by the district. “The district will continue to cooperate with law enforcement and is conducting an internal review to ensure that all safety protocols are thoroughly evaluated and strengthened where needed,” an LEISD spokesperson said.

This case has sparked renewed conversations within the Little Elm community about the importance of vigilance and communication between parents, educators, and authorities. Many parents have expressed shock and concern, especially considering the setting—a place where children are meant to feel safe and supported.

Community members are being reminded of the importance of reporting any suspicious behavior, no matter how minor it may seem. “One concerned parent’s decision to speak up has enabled this investigation to move forward,” said a police official. “Their courage may have helped prevent further harm and has made a critical difference.”

As the investigation develops, more details are expected to emerge. In the meantime, both law enforcement and school officials are focused on supporting affected students and families and ensuring that trust and security are restored within the community.
