Man Arrested After Shooting Manager Outside East Atlanta McDonald’s

In a disturbing incident that unfolded on the afternoon of Friday, June 3, 2022, in East Atlanta Village, a McDonald’s employee allegedly shot his manager multiple times following a workplace dispute. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Christopher Jean-Pierre of Loganville, was apprehended by Atlanta police on June 10 in DeKalb County after nearly a week on the run.

The Incident

According to police reports, the confrontation began when Jean-Pierre and his manager, Elizabeth Williams, engaged in an argument at the McDonald’s located on Moreland Avenue. The dispute escalated, leading Williams to ask Jean-Pierre to leave the premises. Jean-Pierre complied initially but returned shortly thereafter, confronting Williams outside the restaurant. He then allegedly shot her multiple times before fleeing the scene.    

Williams was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. As of the latest reports, her current condition has not been disclosed.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Jean-Pierre faces several serious charges, including:

• Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder

• Aggravated Assault

• Aggravated Battery

• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony

He is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail, awaiting transfer to the Fulton County Jail.

Community and Corporate Response

The incident has sent shockwaves through the East Atlanta community. Danesha Smith, the owner and operator of the affected McDonald’s franchise, expressed deep concern over the event, stating, “Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants. We are deeply disturbed by this incident and our thoughts are with our employee at this time.”

Ongoing Investigation

Atlanta police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive or any prior incidents between Jean-Pierre and Williams. The McDonald’s location remained closed for the remainder of the day following the shooting to allow for the investigation.
