Man Fatally Shot in Northwest Atlanta, Community Mourns as Police Launch Homicide Investigation
ATLANTA, Ga. — June 17, 2025 — A wave of shock and sorrow is sweeping through northwest Atlanta following the fatal shooting of a man on Tuesday evening. The incident, which occurred in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, marks another somber moment in the city’s ongoing struggle against gun violence.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to reports of a person shot shortly after 8:11 p.m. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, the identity of the victim has not been publicly released, pending notification of his next of kin. Atlanta City Councilman Jason Dozier, whose district includes parts of the affected area, issued a statement late Tuesday night:
