Michigan State Police – Third District: Caro Post Investigating Serious Pedestrian Crash in Fremont Township

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Third District – Caro Post are currently investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred in Fremont Township, Tuscola County, involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The incident was reported on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 5:04 PM, near the intersection of Snover Road and Conrad Road.

Details of the Incident

According to the preliminary investigation, a 31-year-old male pedestrian from Mayville was walking westbound along Snover Road when he attempted to cross the roadway. At that moment, he was struck by a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 73-year-old woman, also from Mayville, remained on the scene and cooperated fully with authorities. She was not injured in the collision.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center for immediate medical treatment. His current condition has not been released, pending updates from the hospital and notification of family.

Ongoing Investigation

MSP officials have stated that the incident remains under active investigation, with troopers working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and no charges have been announced.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved, in accordance with ongoing investigative protocols.

Emergency Response

The scene saw a coordinated emergency response, with Mayville EMS, MMR (Mobile Medical Response), and the Mayville Fire Department providing crucial support alongside MSP troopers. First responders worked quickly to secure the area, attend to the victim, and initiate traffic control while the initial assessment was conducted.

Community and Safety Reminder

In light of this serious incident, the Michigan State Police are reminding both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant—particularly in rural areas where visibility and reaction times can be limited by curves, lighting, or lack of sidewalks. All roadway users are urged to exercise extra caution and be mindful of one another to help prevent future tragedies.
