A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred late Friday night on State Highway 349 in Upton County, Texas, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Gerardo Garcia of Midland. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. near mile marker 376, approximately 20 miles south of Midland.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a 2003 Cadillac Escalade towing a trailer was parked on the shoulder of the highway. The driver of the Escalade made an unsafe turn into southbound traffic, leading to a collision with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Garcia. Despite wearing his seatbelt, Garcia sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Escalade was not injured. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine whether any charges will be filed.
