Mineral City Mourns the Tragic Passing of Motorcyclist Michael McHale, 47
MINERAL CITY, OHIO — The small and close-knit community of Mineral City is in mourning following the tragic passing of Michael McHale, a 47-year-old resident who lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday evening, November 5, 2025, in Tuscarawas County.
According to a report released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post, the crash occurred at approximately 7:06 p.m. on County Road 66, also known locally as Roxford Church Road, in Union Township, a rural area just a few miles outside Mineral City.
Investigators say that Michael McHale was traveling northbound on his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he reportedly lost control on a curve along the roadway. The motorcycle veered off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and overturning before coming to a stop in a nearby field. The impact was severe, and emergency responders were called immediately by passing motorists who witnessed the aftermath.
When paramedics and law enforcement officers arrived on scene, they found McHale unresponsive. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office personnel. Authorities have stated that McHale was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, a factor that may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.
Preliminary investigations have determined that no other vehicles were involved, and weather conditions were clear at the time of the accident. Alcohol or drug impairment has not been suspected, though standard toxicology tests are being conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
The crash remains under review by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is working to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
