Moraine Man, 37, Dies in Early-Morning Rollover on I-75

Posted on October 18, 2025 by Usainsightreport

A tight-knit community in Moraine, Ohio, is in shock this weekend after the death of 37-year-old David Hicks in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning. The tragedy unfolded just before 1 a.m. on October 17, 2025, along southbound Interstate 75 in Monroe, Warren County, sending ripples of grief through friends, family, and neighbors alike.

According to preliminary details released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Hicks was driving a 2015 Jeep Rubicon when his vehicle veered off the right side of the road, flipped over, and came to rest overturned. He was unrestrained at the time of the crash, and the force of the wreck left him with life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At this point, the investigation remains open as troopers work to determine the full circumstances. No other vehicles were involved, and there is currently no indication of impairment or criminal factors in the crash. Authorities have confirmed that local agencies including Middletown Police, Fire & EMS, and Case Towing assisted in the response.

For the people who knew David, his passing feels deeply unjust. They remember him as a devoted son, a reliable friend, and someone whose warm nature left an impression on everyone he met. His generosity, easy laugh, and willingness to lend a hand were often the soft glow in a room that others might not notice until he walked in. In the wake of his death, many are reflecting not only on how fragile life is, but also how much small acts of kindness matter.

Beyond the sorrow, officials are reminding motorists to take extra care on the roads—especially in late-night or early-morning hours when visibility is reduced and fatigue or other hazards might be factors. Wearing a seatbelt, moderating speed, and staying alert can make the difference between reaching home and tragedy.

The Troopers of the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are asking anyone who may have information about the crash to come forward. Any detail—no matter how small—might help refine the timeline or clarify what led to Hicks’s vehicle leaving the roadway.

In a community now mourning, the hope is that David’s passing will not be forgotten, but serve as a sobering reminder: life can change in an instant, and safety precautions we sometimes take for granted may be the only barrier between life and loss.
