My family was dealt another devastating loss today.

To say that I am heartbroken and in shock would be an understatement. The pain is deep, raw, and difficult to put into words. It’s one of those moments when everything in life comes to a screeching halt, and you’re forced to face the unbearable truth — that someone you love is no longer here.

Life is so precious. So fragile. One moment we’re laughing, making plans, sharing memories, and in the next — everything changes. In the blink of an eye, we’re left clinging to photographs, messages, and memories, desperately wishing for one more moment, one more hug, one more conversation.

We lost more than a cousin today. We lost a brother in every way that truly counts. From childhood mischief to adult conversations, from family gatherings to quiet moments of support, he was there — a constant, a confidant, a protector, and a friend. We were cousins by blood, but brothers by choice. That bond can never be broken, not by time, not by distance, and certainly not by death.

I will forever cherish the laughs, the late-night talks, the loyalty, and the love we shared. You were someone I could always count on — to lift me up when I was down, to remind me of who I am when I felt lost, and to stand by my side through thick and thin. You had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for. You were a light in so many lives, and now the world feels a little dimmer without you in it.

To everyone reading this: don’t take a single moment for granted. Hug your loved ones tighter. Call that friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. Say “I love you” a little more often. Life is unpredictable, and we never know how much time we really have.

Today, my heart is heavy with grief, but also full of gratitude for having had someone so special in my life. I will carry your memory with me always. You may be gone from this earth, but your spirit, your laughter, and your love will never leave us.

Rest easy, brother. Until we meet again.
