New Details Emerge in College Town Stabbing Incident: 22-Year-Old Curtez Frazier Charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder

TAMPA, FL — Authorities have released new information surrounding a violent stabbing incident that occurred earlier this month at College Town, located at 12818 University Club Drive in Tampa. The suspect, 22-year-old Curtez Frazier, has been formally charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree with a Weapon in connection with the brutal attack.

The incident unfolded on the evening of May 9, 2025, during what law enforcement describes as a “large physical altercation” involving several individuals, including witnesses, Frazier, and other subjects. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, tensions escalated quickly, prompting the unidentified victim to attempt to intervene and de-escalate the fight.

It was during this moment of attempted peacemaking, investigators say, that Frazier allegedly left the scene of the altercation, entered a nearby residence or unit, and returned armed with a knife. Eyewitnesses report that Frazier then chased the victim and made two attempts to stab them.

The situation became even more violent when the victim fell to the ground. According to the official arrest affidavit, Frazier allegedly tried to stab the victim in the face while they were down. In an act of self-defense, the victim raised an arm to block the strike. The knife penetrated the victim’s forearm so forcefully that the handle broke off, leaving the blade lodged in the arm.

First responders arrived shortly after and rendered aid to the victim, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical personnel reportedly removed the embedded blade before transporting the victim to a local hospital for further treatment.

Frazier was arrested soon after and remains in custody without bond. His first court hearing is scheduled for May 27, 2025, where he is expected to face a judge on the felony charge of Attempted First-Degree Murder with a Weapon. The severity of the charge underscores the premeditated nature of the attack, particularly given the claim that Frazier retrieved the knife from inside a residence before confronting the victim again.

Officials have not released further details about the motive behind the altercation or any potential relationships between the involved parties. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging any additional witnesses to come forward with information.

The incident has raised serious concerns among residents of the College Town community, which primarily houses university students and young professionals. Increased security and law enforcement presence have been reported in the area following the attack.
