One Dead, Three Injured—Including Two Teens—in Tragic Dauphin County Crash
A tragic multi-vehicle accident in Dauphin County claimed the life of one man and left three others hospitalized with severe injuries, including two juveniles, after a violent early morning collision. Authorities confirmed that 47-year-old Michael Eckenrod, a resident of Elizabethtown and an occupant of the Pontiac, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant of the Pontiac, whose identity has not been publicly released, sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for emergency treatment.
The Ford F-350 was carrying two teenage occupants—a 17-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old female passenger. Both suffered serious injuries and were also rushed to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Due to the severity of their injuries, their current medical conditions have not been disclosed.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:53 a.m. on North Hertzler Road in Londonderry Township. According to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police in Harrisburg, a 2007 Pontiac G6 was traveling southbound when it failed to stop at a clearly marked stop sign at the intersection with East Harrisburg Pike. Investigators say the Pontiac entered the intersection without yielding and collided directly with an oncoming 2005 Ford F-350 pickup truck.
