Ongoing Dispute Leads to Juvenile Crashing into Another Juvenile and Dollar Tree in Bishopville

Posted on May 12, 2025 by Usainsightreport

BISHOPVILLE, S.C. — A heated dispute among local youth escalated into a dangerous and destructive crash outside a Bishopville Dollar Tree store, leading to multiple arrests and criminal charges. Authorities report that the incident involved several juveniles and resulted in significant damage, public endangerment, and a series of swift police actions.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the chaos unfolded when a juvenile, reportedly involved in an ongoing personal conflict, intentionally struck another juvenile with a vehicle. The collision did not stop there—the impact propelled the vehicle forward, slamming into the front of the Dollar Tree store located off North Main Street. The force of the crash caused the vehicle to roll over, striking another parked vehicle in the lot before coming to a rest.

Witnesses described the scene as “like something out of a movie,” with broken glass, overturned merchandise, and stunned shoppers rushing out of the store. Emergency services responded promptly, securing the scene and assessing injuries. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities, though several individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Authorities arrested two adults in connection with the incident: 19-year-old Celvin Hickman and 24-year-old Shamirah Blyther, both of Bishopville. Their exact involvement is still under investigation, but law enforcement confirmed they face multiple charges, including contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reckless endangerment, and obstruction.

In addition to the adults, three juveniles have been charged. Due to their ages, their identities have not been released, but they are facing serious charges including assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, and destruction of property.

Sheriff Daniel Simon stated, “This was not a random accident. It was a direct result of a dangerous dispute that could have had deadly consequences. We are thankful no lives were lost, but the level of disregard for public safety here is absolutely unacceptable.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the underlying causes of the altercation and whether gang activity or other external influences were factors. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

The Dollar Tree store remains temporarily closed for repairs and cleanup. Community members expressed shock at the incident, noting the rising concerns about youth violence in the area.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
