Steuben County, NY – July 10, 2025 – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 32-year-old Alesha M. Hunt, a resident of Victory Highway in Painted Post, following a serious incident that unfolded across multiple locations in the county.
According to Sheriff Jim Allard, the arrest occurred on July 9, 2025, after deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash and an attempted vehicle theft in Thurston, NY.
Allegations and Charges
Investigators allege that Hunt stole a vehicle earlier that day in Bath, NY, and was later found to be in possession of the stolen vehicle in Thurston. In addition to the theft, authorities say the vehicle in question had neither a valid inspection nor registration, and Hunt’s driver’s license had been suspended or revoked at the time of the incident.
Further investigation uncovered that Hunt had allegedly followed a victim in a public place, causing the individual to fear for their safety. Deputies say she acted recklessly, endangering the victim and others in the area, prompting several serious charges.
