Palatine Man Among Two Found Fatally Injured at Arlington Heights Condo

Posted on November 22, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Late Friday afternoon, in a chilling discovery at the Dana Point Condominiums in the 1500 block of East Central Road, Juan Medina—53 years old and a resident of nearby Palatine—was publicly identified as one of the two men found dead in a utility room. The other man remains formally unnamed at this time.

According to the Arlington Heights Police Department, they received a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. Friday reporting two men unconscious inside the building. Responding officers and fire department personnel reached the location and found the two victims within a utility room; both had sustained what were described as “traumatic injuries” and were clearly beyond medical care when found.

From the early investigation, police have confirmed the two men worked together — one as a supervisor and the other as an employee. While authorities say there is no danger to the public at this stage, the manner and cause of death remain under investigation by the Arlington Heights PD in conjunction with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Major Case Assistance Team.

Investigators are handling this as an isolated incident at this time. Police stress that family notification is ongoing, and that no further identifying details are being released while they continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing what led to the men being in that utility room at the time of their deaths.

Neighbors in the condo complex reported hearing little commotion before the call but were shocked by the news. At a property designed for quiet suburban living, the sense of safety has taken a sudden hit with this tragic turn. Residents say the Dana Point complex generally draws families and long‑term tenants, making the incident all the more unexpected.

The role of the building’s utility spaces is now under scrutiny—how two employees ended up there just before their deaths is prompting questions. Was this routine maintenance, an after‑hours task, or something else entirely? Police have not indicated any known motive or cause yet and say they are reviewing “traumatic injuries” broadly, without specifying whether they believe foul play or an accident is currently more likely.

For the family of Juan Medina, the news brings heartbreak to the forefront. A 53‑year‑old man, living in Palatine, whose life abruptly ended under circumstances still unfolding. The community is urged to allow space for grieving and for the investigation to move forward unhindered, while authorities continue to gather facts and piece together exactly what happened that afternoon.

As this remains a developing story, updates will follow as the police release more information.
