CORRIGAN, TX – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), in collaboration with the Corrigan Police Department, is actively searching for a suspect involved in a recent shooting incident at Corrigan Square Apartments. Authorities report that the shooting, which occurred earlier this week, stemmed from a heated dispute concerning the treatment of the victim’s son.
The victim, whose identity has not been released to the public, sustained gunshot injuries during the altercation but is currently in stable condition, according to a statement released by PCSO. Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly and transported the individual to a nearby medical facility where they are now recovering.
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Darius Deshaun Hawthorne, a local man who remains at large. Law enforcement officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and not to approach Hawthorne if spotted, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the confrontation escalated during a personal dispute related to the well-being and treatment of the victim’s child. While authorities continue to investigate the specifics of the case, the motive appears to be deeply personal in nature.
