Posted on May 9, 2025 by Usainsightreport

On May 8, 2025, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old William August Gilbert, a registered sex offender residing in Mascot, Tennessee, on charges related to the sexual abuse of a child aged 8 or younger. Gilbert, who has a prior conviction for repeated acts of sexual assault against the same child in Wisconsin in 2006, is listed as a compliant offender on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry.

According to the registry, Gilbert’s last known employment was at the Amazon Fulfillment Center located at 210 Partnership Parkway in Maryville, Tennessee. His residential address is listed as 1633 River Poppy Road in Mascot.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s Sex Offender Registration Unit actively monitors approximately 800 registered sex offenders in the county to ensure compliance with state laws. The unit conducts regular compliance sweeps and makes community notifications when high-risk offenders move into neighborhoods.

Gilbert’s arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to protect children and hold offenders accountable. The case remains under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
