Remembering Hayley McMaster: Belfair Community Mourns Young Life Lost in Silverdale Crash

Posted on July 11, 2025 by Usainsightreport

BELFAIR, WA — With heavy hearts, the Belfair community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of 21-year-old Hayley McMaster, who was struck and killed by a pickup truck on State Route 3 in Silverdale on July 9, 2025.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal crash occurred when a pickup truck crossed into the gore point — an area separating the highway lanes — and collided with Hayley, who was standing outside a stationary SUV. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, Hayley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The news of her passing has left family, friends, and the wider Belfair and Kitsap County communities in shock and grief. Hayley was a vibrant, kind, and deeply loved young woman whose life was full of potential and purpose. Her tragic death has created a profound void in the lives of those who knew her best.

Described by loved ones as compassionate, funny, and full of life, Hayley had a heart that radiated warmth and generosity. Whether she was spending time with family, supporting her friends, or simply offering a kind word to a stranger, Hayley left an impression of light and kindness wherever she went.

“She had this rare ability to make people feel seen and valued,” one friend shared. “She could lift your spirits just by being there. Her laugh, her strength, her love — it’s impossible to put into words what we’ve lost.”

The driver of the truck involved in the collision was not injured, and authorities confirmed that no one else at the scene sustained serious harm. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the incident, and charges against the truck driver remain pending as they gather additional information.

As the investigation unfolds, Hayley’s family and community are left navigating the heartbreaking aftermath of a loss that came far too soon. Tributes have begun to pour in on social media and within the community — filled with memories, photos, and heartfelt messages of love and remembrance. Plans for a vigil and memorial service are currently in discussion.

Hayley McMaster’s death is not just a statistic — it is a devastating reminder of how quickly and senselessly a life can be taken. Her family is urging others to cherish their loved ones and to support efforts that promote roadway safety and pedestrian awareness.

Though her time on earth was short, Hayley’s impact was immense. She will be remembered not only for her kindness and strength but for the way she lived her life with honesty, love, and compassion.

As Belfair mourns the loss of one of its own, may we carry Hayley’s memory forward — in how we love, how we care, and how we show up for one another.

Rest in peace, Hayley. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
