RENO, Nev. – Community Mourns Loss of 12-Year-Old Venicio Gudino After Tragic Motorcycle Crash

A deep sense of grief and disbelief hangs over the Reno community following a devastating accident that claimed the life of 12-year-old Venicio Gudino on the night of Saturday, May 31, 2025. Venicio was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Military Road and Convair Way, an incident that has sent waves of sorrow through family, friends, and neighbors alike.

The Tragic Night

Emergency crews responded to the scene just after 10:15 p.m., after multiple 911 calls reported a severe collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found the young boy critically injured. Despite all life-saving efforts, Venicio was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations by the Reno Police Department’s Traffic Division suggest that Venicio was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when the crash occurred. Authorities are still piecing together the exact circumstances, including the speed of the motorcycle, the road conditions, and the role of any other vehicles involved.

The identity of the motorcycle operator has not yet been released, and it remains unclear whether any charges will be filed. Officials have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and have asked any witnesses to come forward.

A Life Cut Tragically Short

Venicio Gudino was just beginning to grow into his own — a vibrant young boy remembered by teachers and classmates for his bright smile, gentle nature, and boundless curiosity. A student at a local middle school, he was known for his love of sports, especially soccer, and a deep passion for animals.

“He was a kind soul. Always smiling, always helping others,” said one of his teachers, fighting back tears. “This loss is unimaginable. Our hearts break for his family.”

Venicio’s family, devastated by the loss, released a brief statement thanking the community for their support and requesting privacy as they process the tragedy.

Outpouring of Grief

The accident has deeply impacted the Reno community. A growing memorial now sits near the crash site, with candles, flowers, handwritten notes, and photos of Venicio placed gently beneath a streetlamp. Friends, classmates, and strangers alike have visited to pay their respects.

Community members have also organized a candlelight vigil scheduled for Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the local park near his school, where those who knew and loved Venicio can gather in solidarity and sorrow.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by family friends to help cover funeral expenses and provide support to the grieving family. As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser had already surpassed its initial goal, a testament to the community’s love and care.

A Call for Awareness

As police continue to investigate, the tragedy has sparked renewed discussions about youth safety, motorcycle laws, and the responsibilities of drivers and guardians. Authorities stress the importance of proper protective equipment, licensing, and ensuring that minors are never placed in high-risk situations on roadways.

“This is a heartbreaking and preventable loss,” said a spokesperson from the Reno Police Department. “We hope this tragedy serves as a painful but necessary reminder to prioritize safety at all times.”

Remembering Venicio

Though his life was short, Venicio Gudino made an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know him. From his joy-filled laughter to his gentle heart, Venicio’s presence was a gift to everyone around him.
