Sadie Hope, Clifford Johnson, Eunice Johnson-Lightsey, and Sade Hope-Johnson York Charged in Death of 11-Year-Old Wylie Boy

WYLIE, TEXAS — A tragic and deeply unsettling case has emerged out of Collin County as four individuals—Sadie Hope, 28; Clifford Johnson, 67; Eunice Johnson-Lightsey, 46; and Sade Hope-Johnson York, 30—have been charged in connection with the death of an 11-year-old boy earlier this week in Wylie.

The heartbreaking incident began unfolding Monday evening when paramedics were dispatched to a home located in the 1600 block of Long Meadow Road. First responders arrived to find the child unresponsive, and immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR. The boy was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medics and hospital staff, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Following the child’s death, the Wylie Police Department launched an immediate and in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The nature of the boy’s injuries and the condition in which he was found prompted authorities to dig deeper. Their findings led to the issuance of arrest warrants for four individuals connected to the household.

The suspects—Sadie Hope, Clifford Johnson, Eunice Johnson-Lightsey, and Sade Hope-Johnson York—have each been charged with injury to a child and abandoning and endangering a child, serious felony offenses under Texas law. These charges indicate that law enforcement believes the child was subjected to significant harm and neglect while under their care or supervision.

Though officials have yet to release specific details about the abuse or neglect that led to the child’s death, sources close to the investigation report that there were troubling signs of prolonged mistreatment. The boy’s condition at the time of the emergency call reportedly raised immediate red flags for paramedics and police, prompting child welfare and forensic teams to assist in the investigation.

The home where the incident occurred has since become the focus of a broader inquiry, as law enforcement continues gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses. Authorities have also indicated that they are working with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.

The community of Wylie has been left in shock and mourning. The death of such a young child—reportedly under the care or presence of multiple adults—has sparked outrage and deep concern. Local residents have begun organizing vigils and calls for justice as they await more answers about how this tragedy could have occurred.

Wylie Police have reiterated their commitment to seeking justice for the child and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. In a statement, the department emphasized, “This young boy deserved love, safety, and protection. Our investigation remains active, and we will not stop until every responsible party is held accountable.”

As of now, all four suspects are being held in custody. Bail and court dates have not been made publicly available.

This case remains under active investigation, and more details are expected in the coming days as the justice system begins to unravel the heartbreaking circumstances that led to the senseless loss of an innocent life.
