SAY HER NAME: Corinthian Shepard, 40, Shot and Killed in Her Shreveport Home

Posted on July 6, 2025 by Usainsightreport

SHREVEPORT, LA — A wave of grief and outrage has swept through the Huntington Park neighborhood and across the wider Shreveport community after Corinthian Shepard, a 40-year-old woman, was senselessly shot and killed in her own home early Saturday morning, July 5, 2025.

The tragic incident unfolded in the 6200 block of North Windermere Drive, a residential stretch typically known for its quiet and close-knit character. But in the early morning hours, that sense of peace was shattered by violence that claimed the life of a woman remembered by friends and family as loving, strong, and deeply cherished.

First responders were dispatched shortly after 7:00 a.m., and Corinthian was pronounced dead at the scene by 7:09 a.m., according to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office. Her death marked the 19th homicide in Shreveport this year, and the 24th across Caddo Parish—a grim reminder of the toll that gun violence continues to take on lives, families, and communities.

But Corinthian Shepard was not a statistic.

She was a daughter, a friend, a neighbor, perhaps a sister or mother—and, above all, a human being whose life mattered. Those who knew her say she was a pillar of warmth and quiet resilience, someone who greeted neighbors with a wave, who loved deeply, and who deserved so much more than to have her life stolen in the very place she should have felt safest: her home.

“She didn’t deserve this. Nobody does,” said one neighbor, visibly shaken by the tragedy. “This is a neighborhood where people know each other. We are heartbroken and terrified all at once.”

The Shreveport Police Department is currently investigating the shooting. As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified, and a motive remains unclear. Authorities have ordered an autopsy, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to help piece together the events that led to Corinthian’s death.

Community advocates and residents are calling on the public to not only seek justice but also to remember her name, to speak it with reverence and anger, with heartbreak and urgency.

“We can’t let her be forgotten. She wasn’t just another headline. She was Corinthian Shepard. And she mattered,” said a local activist during a candlelight vigil forming in the neighborhood.

A Crisis Close to Home

The tragedy underscores the growing violence gripping parts of Shreveport and Caddo Parish. As the community mourns, the call for stronger support systems, violence prevention efforts, and neighborhood watch resources continues to grow louder.

City leaders have acknowledged the rise in homicides and are working to provide increased support for law enforcement and social programs—but for grieving families like Corinthian’s, change feels too slow, and the pain is all too immediate.
