Shahzad Hameedi Charged in Sexual Assault of 4-Year-Old Boy in Windsor

Windsor, Ontario – June 27, 2025 – The Windsor Police Service has charged 46-year-old Shahzad Hameedi in connection with the sexual assault of a four-year-old child, following a cross-border investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies in both Canada and the United States.

Incident Details

The investigation began on June 25, 2025, when Windsor Police’s Major Crimes Unit received a report from the family of a four-year-old boy who had returned from an unsupervised outing with Shahzad Hameedi, described as a family friend. The child’s parent noticed severe injuries and immediately took the child to the hospital, where medical staff confirmed signs consistent with sexual assault.

Authorities say the incident occurred on the evening of June 24, and that Hameedi was alone with the child at the time. Before police could take him into custody, Hameedi fled across the border into Michigan.

Suspect Apprehended in the U.S.

After a warrant was issued, Shahzad Hameedi was located and arrested on June 27 in Royal Oak, Michigan by the United States Marshals Service, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police-led Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad. He is currently in U.S. custody and awaiting extradition to Canada.

Charges Against Shahzad Hameedi

Upon his return to Windsor, Hameedi will face the following charges:

•Aggravated Sexual Assault

•Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16 Years of Age

Windsor Police have emphasized the serious nature of the allegations and the ongoing support being offered to the victim and their family. Due to the child’s age and to protect their identity, no further information about the victim will be released publicly.

“This is a deeply disturbing case involving a vulnerable child and someone in a position of trust,” said a Windsor Police spokesperson. “We are committed to ensuring justice is pursued swiftly and thoroughly.”
