Saturday afternoon’s routine drive turned tragic in Sharon, Connecticut, when a 17-year-old boy lost his life after an SUV careened off Amenia Union Road and slammed into a house. The victim, now identified as Shea Cassidy-Teti of Salisbury, was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two adult occupants—also from Salisbury—were seriously injured and remain hospitalized.
State police say the crash occurred just after 3 p.m. in the stretch of Amenia Union Road near Golf Drive. The SUV, reported to be a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling northbound when it suddenly veered across the southbound lane and shoulder before colliding with a tree and then striking a home.

Inside that vehicle were Cassidy-Teti, a 62-year-old man driving, and a 64-year-old front-seat passenger. Both adults suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews airlifted one of them by LifeStar helicopter to a trauma center, while the other was transported by ambulance to Sharon Hospital.
The house that took the brunt of the crash endured significant structural damage. By the next morning, responders had boarded up a shattered window and draped black plastic over portions of the façade. The surrounding scene showed a broken fence and debris strewn across the property.
Authorities closed Route 41 between Golf Drive and West Woods Road temporarily while investigating and clearing the site. Connecticut State Police have not yet determined what caused the SUV to lose control and veer off course, stating the investigation is ongoing.
Officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Gryniuk at Troop B via 860-626-1821.
The family and community are now left reeling in the wake of an event that began as an ordinary afternoon drive but ended in heartbreak. As the investigation continues to unfold, mourners are remembering Shea Cassidy-Teti and hoping for recovery for the injured adults.
