Shooting in Klamath Falls Leaves One Injured; Suspect in Custody Following Swift Law Enforcement Response

Klamath Falls, OR — A shooting incident in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, 2025, has left a 19-year-old man injured and led to the arrest of a suspect, thanks to the prompt response by local law enforcement agencies.

Incident Overview

At approximately 4:03 a.m., deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1700 block of Gary Street following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Kane L. Harrell, a resident of Klamath Falls, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders provided immediate medical assistance, and Harrell was transported to a local medical facility for further treatment. Details about his current condition have not been released.

Arrest and Charges

Following a swift investigation, authorities identified 34-year-old Taylor R. Jackson, also of Klamath Falls, as the suspect. Jackson was apprehended without incident and is currently being held at the Klamath County Jail. He faces multiple serious charges, including:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Assault in the First Degree
  • Assault in the Second Degree
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm 

The arrest was the result of collaborative efforts between the Klamath Falls City Police Department, Klamath County Community Corrections Officers, and the Sheriff’s Office. Undersheriff Mike Smith praised the inter-agency cooperation, stating, “We are thankful for the rapid and professional response from all involved, which allowed us to swiftly remove a dangerous individual from our streets and begin the process of justice for the victim and the community.”

Ongoing Investigation

The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 541-883-5130. Community cooperation is deemed crucial in ensuring public safety and aiding the investigative process.
