STILLWATER, Okla. — A shooting at Oklahoma State University’s Carreker East residential hall early Sunday morning left three people injured, including at least one OSU student. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred shortly after a large private gathering off-campus and is under active investigation.

According to OSU Chief of Police Michael Beckner, university officers were dispatched to the scene around 3:40 a.m. after reports indicated that multiple individuals had sustained gunshot wounds and were seeking medical help at off-campus locations. The quick response helped ensure that victims received immediate attention.

Upon arrival, police confirmed that several people had been injured during the shooting. At least one of the injured has been identified as an Oklahoma State University student, while the others are being treated anonymously. The injuries are described as serious, though their exact conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

All victims were transported to hospitals in Oklahoma City and Tulsa for treatment. Emergency medical teams worked quickly to stabilize those injured, and university officials have emphasized that medical care continues to be the top priority while law enforcement investigates the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the campus at this time. Students and staff are being advised that those who do not reside in Carreker East should avoid the area while police continue processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. University safety officials are coordinating closely with local law enforcement to maintain security.

Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting followed a large off-campus private party that took place earlier Saturday night. Some attendees reportedly returned to Carreker East after the gathering, and the shooting occurred shortly thereafter, though investigators have not confirmed the exact motive or what triggered the gunfire.

The OSU Police Department, along with local authorities, is actively collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses who may have observed the events leading up to the shooting. Chief Beckner noted that investigators are pursuing multiple leads to identify all individuals involved and to determine whether criminal charges may be filed.

An update released by OSU authorities at 6:37 a.m. confirmed that an additional victim was located and is receiving treatment at an area hospital. Officials have not released the identities of all victims, citing ongoing investigations and respect for privacy.

Students and community members with information about the shooting are encouraged to contact the OSU Police Department at 405-744-6523 or submit an anonymous tip through the Rave Guardian app. The app also provides a live chat feature for direct communication with dispatchers, helping authorities gather crucial information.

University officials have expressed concern for those affected and emphasized the importance of campus safety. They continue to work closely with law enforcement, providing updates and directing the public to safety.okstate.edu for official guidance. The investigation into the shooting remains active as authorities seek to determine how the events unfolded.
