Summerville Cyclist, 36, Loses Life in Late-Night Collision on Dorchester Road

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a tragic vehicle-bicycle collision on Thursday night in Summerville.

Christopher Wilson, 36, of Summerville, was fatally injured while riding his bicycle on Dorchester Road near Sawmill Court around 11:01 p.m. According to the coroner’s report, Wilson was struck by a 2019 Chevy sedan traveling eastbound on the same road. Emergency responders rushed Wilson to Trident Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, led by Cpl. Nick Pye, reported that the driver of the Chevy sedan was uninjured in the collision. The incident remains under investigation by both the Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, with an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina to further determine the cause of death.

No additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash or potential charges have been disclosed at this time. The Summerville community continues to mourn the loss of Christopher Wilson, whose life was cut short in this tragic accident.
