On Saturday, May 18, an unimaginable tragedy struck the heart of our community in Etobicoke, Ontario. A devastating accident claimed the lives of three beautiful children—Ramone (15), Jace (13), and Maya (6)—beloved siblings whose laughter, energy, and light have left an indelible mark on everyone who knew them. These were vibrant young souls with dreams, talents, and a deep love for one another and their family. Their passing is a loss that words can barely contain, and the heartbreak is felt by all who knew and loved them.
In the wake of this terrible event, their mother Jade and 10-year-old sibling Avery, the only surviving child, remain hospitalized. Both are bravely fighting for their lives, showing a resilience that is both awe-inspiring and heart-wrenching. Their road to recovery—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—will be long and difficult. They need all the strength and support we can give.
The Lavina family has always been a vital and cherished part of our community. They have given so much through their kindness, generosity, and involvement. Now, in their darkest hour, it is our turn to stand by them.
