Tragedy in Adams County: Cory Higgs, 34, Killed in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — June 23, 2025 — The community of Adams County is mourning the loss of Cory Higgs, a 34-year-old Biglerville resident who tragically lost his life in a single-motorcycle accident early Monday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of Heidlesburg Road and Guernsey Road in Butler Township, drawing a swift response from emergency personnel, including the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities say the call came in around 4:30 a.m., when first responders were alerted to the scene of the crash. Upon arrival, they discovered the rider—later identified as Cory Higgs—had succumbed to his injuries. The coroner pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that the cause of death was multiple blunt force traumatic injuries, the result of the violent impact from the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

A Life Cut Short

Cory Higgs was a beloved member of the Biglerville community—known for his friendly spirit, strong work ethic, and passion for riding. Friends and family remember him as someone who approached life with resilience, generosity, and an infectious smile that could light up any room.

“He loved the freedom of the open road,” said one friend. “Riding wasn’t just a hobby for Cory—it was therapy. It was where he found peace.”

He worked locally and was involved in several community activities. In addition to his job, Cory often volunteered his time to help neighbors, whether it was repairing something mechanical or lending a hand at local events. He was also known to many in the regional motorcycle community, where he had forged countless bonds over the years.

Community Reaction

News of his death has left many in shock, especially those who knew Cory personally. Tributes have begun appearing across social media, where loved ones and fellow riders have shared memories, photos, and heartfelt messages:

“You were one of a kind, Cory. Always the first to show up, help out, and crack a joke. This hurts.”

“Rest in peace, brother. Ride free in the skies.”

Several local riding groups are organizing a memorial ride in his honor, with more details expected in the coming days. In addition, a candlelight vigil is being planned at the crash site, where community members will gather to pay their respects and support one another during this painful time.

Moving Forward

As investigators continue to piece together what led to the crash, the tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the risks motorcyclists face on the road. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has urged all drivers to exercise increased caution and remain vigilant—especially during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.

The loss of Cory Higgs is not just a statistic—it’s a profound blow to a tight-knit community. He leaves behind grieving family members, a wide circle of friends, and a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and passion for life.

Funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the Higgs family, who are asking for privacy as they navigate this unimaginable grief. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local motorcycle safety awareness fund or a charity of the family’s choosing.

Rest in peace, Cory. May your final ride be as free and fearless as the way you lived.
