Tragedy Strikes Twice in Milwaukee: Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Northwest Side
MILWAUKEE, WI — June 7, 2025
A somber tone has gripped Milwaukee after a deadly hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 40-year-old motorcyclist on the city’s northwest side Saturday evening. The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene around 8:13 p.m. following reports of a serious collision at the intersection of North 76th Street and West Florist Avenue.
According to MPD, the motorcyclist was heading north on 76th Street when a vehicle traveling southbound attempted a left turn onto West Florist Avenue, cutting into the motorcyclist’s path. The resulting crash proved catastrophic. First responders arrived quickly, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of injuries sustained in the impact.
In a heartbreaking turn, police report that the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, leaving the motorcyclist to die in the roadway. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending family notification. The Milwaukee Police Department has launched a full investigation and is actively working to identify and locate the suspect driver. Surveillance footage from nearby traffic cameras and businesses is being reviewed, and investigators are urging any witnesses to come forward.
This tragic incident marks the second fatal crash in Milwaukee on June 7. Earlier that morning, a 30-year-old individual was killed in a separate crash at West State Street and North Sixth Street. In that case, a 20-year-old driver was taken into custody, though details of that investigation are still developing.
The back-to-back fatalities have left residents shaken, reigniting concerns over reckless driving, traffic violence, and accountability on city streets. Community leaders and activists have long called for tougher enforcement of traffic laws and more proactive measures to protect vulnerable road users like motorcyclists and pedestrians.
MPD is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the driver responsible for Saturday evening’s hit-and-run. Anyone with information—whether a witness, a driver with dashcam footage, or a nearby resident with surveillance video—is asked to contact the Milwaukee Police Department at (414) 935-7360. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS (8477).
As investigations continue, loved ones of the motorcyclist are left to grapple with a sudden and devastating loss. A life taken too soon, and a family left without answers—Milwaukee mourns yet another preventable tragedy on its roads.
