Posted on May 12, 2025 by Usainsightreport

A tragic and devastating incident unfolded late on the evening of Saturday, May 10, in Milwaukee, when a high-speed collision between two vehicles resulted in the death of a 55-year-old woman and left three others injured. The crash occurred shortly after 11:50 p.m. near the intersection of 76th Street and Marion Street, shaking the community and launching a comprehensive investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department.

The victim, identified as Tonya Missouri-Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Tonya, a beloved member of the Milwaukee community, was described by family and neighbors as a warm-hearted woman with deep roots in the neighborhood. Her sudden and tragic death has left family members, friends, and community members in mourning.

According to preliminary reports from the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash involved two vehicles traveling at high speed. Witnesses reported hearing a loud impact and rushing to the scene, only to find both vehicles mangled and debris scattered across the roadway. The force of the collision was so intense that it reportedly caused one of the vehicles to spin out and crash into a nearby utility pole.

Three other individuals sustained injuries of varying severity. They were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed, but authorities have confirmed that all three survived the initial impact.

Investigators are currently working to determine the exact cause of the crash. Speed has already been identified as a major contributing factor, and authorities are now examining whether alcohol, reckless driving, or other circumstances played a role in the deadly incident. Surveillance footage from nearby buildings is being reviewed, and police are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the crash or events leading up to it to come forward.

The intersection of 76th and Marion Street, a busy area even late at night, has been the site of several traffic-related incidents in recent years. Saturday’s tragedy has reignited conversations about traffic safety, speeding, and the need for increased enforcement in high-risk areas throughout Milwaukee.

City officials have extended their condolences to the family of Tonya Missouri-Smith and expressed their concern over the rising number of fatal collisions in the city. “This is an unspeakable loss,” said Alderwoman Chantia Lewis, who represents the district where the crash occurred. “Tonya’s death should not be in vain. We must do more to protect our residents and ensure our streets are safe.”

As news of the tragedy spread, tributes to Missouri-Smith poured in across social media. Friends and loved ones described her as a caring individual who was deeply involved in her community. A vigil is being planned in her honor at the crash site, where flowers and candles have already begun to accumulate.

The Milwaukee Police Department continues to urge drivers to exercise caution on the roads and to obey speed limits, particularly in residential neighborhoods. As the investigation into Saturday’s crash unfolds, the community remains united in grief, holding on to the memory of a life lost far too soon and praying for the recovery of those injured.

Anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to contact Milwaukee police or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers. The community hopes that answers will bring some measure of justice and closure to a heartbreaking incident that has left a lasting impact on all who knew Tonya Missouri-Smith.
