SHERMANS DALE, Pa. (WHTM) — A heartbreaking two-vehicle crash in Carroll Township, Perry County, has claimed the life of William Richey Jr., of Shermans Dale, and one other individual. The fatal collision occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Route 34 (Spring Road), between Old Mill Road and Landisburg Road.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police in Newport, the accident involved a truck driven by William Richey Jr. and an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. Investigators say that Richey’s vehicle crossed the center line, resulting in a head-on collision with the SUV.

Tragically, a passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while William Richey Jr. was transported to Penn State Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased SUV passenger has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
