Posted on July 6, 2025 by Usainsightreport

WILMINGTON, NC — June 6, 2025 – The Wilmington community is mourning following a heartbreaking incident in which 19-year-old Camden White has been charged with the fatal shooting of his father, 46-year-old Michael White.

According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Colonial Drive shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, following reports of gunfire heard inside the home. Upon arrival, officers quickly located Camden White at the scene and detained him without incident.

As other officers searched the residence, they discovered Michael White upstairs, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators soon confirmed the tragic relationship between the suspect and the victim: Camden White is the son of Michael White.

Following an initial investigation, Camden White was charged with Second Degree Murder and is currently being held without bond at the New Hanover County Detention Center.

The case remains active and under investigation, as authorities continue to examine the events that led to this fatal domestic shooting. Police have not yet released information about a potential motive or whether there were any previous domestic incidents at the home.

Neighbors and loved ones of the White family are left stunned and grief-stricken. What unfolded behind closed doors has now shattered a family and sent shockwaves through the community. Michael White, described by some who knew him as a devoted father and a hard-working individual, now leaves behind a life cut tragically short.

Camden White, whose future is now forever changed, will face the full weight of the legal system in the coming weeks. As this case unfolds, it highlights the urgent need for increased awareness and support around mental health and domestic conflict—especially among young adults and families facing internal struggles.

Anyone with additional information about the case is encouraged to contact the Wilmington Police Department.
