Tragic Shooting in Achille: 68-Year-Old Found Dead, Suspect Arrested

At approximately 12:30 p.m., officers from the Achille Police Department responded to a residence near South Seventh Avenue and A Avenue in Achille, Oklahoma, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, authorities discovered 68-year-old James Roy Scoggins deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations determined that Scoggins had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

Following a thorough investigation, special agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) identified 44-year-old Justin Michael Stone as the suspect in the homicide. Stone was apprehended by the Colbert Police Department in Colbert, Oklahoma, and subsequently booked into the Bryan County Jail on a First-Degree Murder complaint. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The OSBI extends its gratitude to the Achille Police Department, Colbert Police Department, and the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office for their continued collaboration and support in this case.
