Tragic Shooting in Newton County Leaves Two Dead, Husband Charged

In a devastating incident in Newton County, Georgia, a domestic dispute turned deadly, resulting in the deaths of 50-year-old Kowanda Glenn and her 20-year-old son, Mikhail Glenn. The shooting occurred at their residence on Oak Meadows in Covington, shortly after midnight on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m.

Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) responded to reports of a double shooting and arrived at the scene to find 53-year-old Willie Glenn, the husband of Kowanda and father of Mikhail, present at the home. According to authorities, Willie Glenn reported that his wife and son had been fatally shot inside the residence. Following an initial investigation, Glenn was arrested at the scene and now faces serious charges, including two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The motive behind the tragic shooting remains unclear, as authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office working to uncover further details.

Sheriff Ezell Brown and the NCSO expressed their deep sorrow over the tragedy, extending heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Kowanda and Mikhail Glenn. “Sheriff Ezell Brown and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are deeply saddened by this loss and extend their heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Kowanda Glenn and Mikhail Glenn during this time,” an NCSO news release stated.

As the community mourns this profound loss, authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
