Tragic Single-Vehicle Crash in Elmore County Claims Life, Injures Another

ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. — A devastating single-vehicle crash near Wetumpka on Wednesday evening, July 23, 2025, has resulted in the death of a local man and injuries to another, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

James T. Tucker, 31, of Wetumpka, was critically injured when the 1994 GMC Sierra pickup he was driving veered off Redland Road, struck a ditch, and overturned at approximately 6 p.m. Emergency responders transported Tucker to Elmore Community Hospital in Wetumpka, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Authorities confirmed that Tucker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A passenger in the vehicle, Dylan T. Sullivan, 29, also of Wetumpka, sustained injuries and was taken to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery for treatment. Details regarding Sullivan’s condition have not been disclosed.

The incident occurred on Redland Road, approximately three miles west of Wetumpka, in Elmore County. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are actively investigating the circumstances of the crash, and no further information is available at this time.
