Tragic Update: Body of Missing Teen Marissa DiNapoli Found; Martin Mendoza Named Person of Interest

Posted on July 3, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Morgan Hill, CA — In a heartbreaking development, the Morgan Hill Police Department (MHPD) has confirmed that the search for missing 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli has ended in tragedy. On July 2, 2025, authorities discovered a body that was formally identified on July 3 by the Santa Clara County Coroner as that of Marissa.

The young woman had been reported missing to MHPD on June 30, 2025, after she failed to return home or respond to calls and messages from concerned family members. Her last known communication was a text message sent at approximately 9:16 p.m. on June 28, in which she told her family she planned to stay with a friend for the night and would return home the next day. When she never returned or made contact, her family reported her missing.

MHPD detectives immediately launched an investigation and were able to determine that Marissa was last seen at around 9:45 a.m. on June 29. She was observed in the company of Martin Mendoza, and surveillance footage or witness accounts confirmed that the two were seen leaving a residence on Trail Drive, just outside Morgan Hill.

As the investigation progressed, Marissa’s vehicle was located in the same Trail Drive area, but there was no sign of her at the time. The discovery of her body nearby on July 2 has deeply shaken the community and prompted intensified efforts by investigators.

At this time, Martin Mendoza has been named a person of interest in the case. While he has not been formally charged, authorities are urging anyone who may have had contact with Mendoza or Marissa between June 28 and July 2 to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in any surveillance footage, witness accounts, or tips that could clarify the circumstances leading up to Marissa’s disappearance and death.

The Morgan Hill Police Department emphasized that this remains an active and ongoing investigation. They are working closely with the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office, forensic teams, and outside agencies to piece together a timeline of events and determine what led to this tragic outcome.

“This is not the ending any of us had hoped for,” said a spokesperson for MHPD. “Our hearts go out to Marissa’s family and friends. We know how painful this is for her loved ones and for the entire Morgan Hill community. We are committed to pursuing justice and getting the answers they deserve.”

Marissa DiNapoli was remembered by friends and loved ones as a kind-hearted and spirited young woman with a bright future. Her death has sparked an outpouring of grief, shock, and calls for justice across social media and in the community.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the case, particularly concerning Martin Mendoza or sightings of Marissa after June 28, to contact Detective Kyle Tolentino at 669-253-4962. Tips can be shared anonymously, and community cooperation is strongly encouraged.

The DiNapoli family has requested privacy as they grieve the unimaginable loss of their daughter.

Rest in Peace, Marissa DiNapoli (2007–2025)

Gone too soon, never forgotten.
