Charlotte County, FL – July 4, 2025  – Authorities with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office have announced a major development in the investigation into the violent shooting and armed robbery that occurred near Melville and Nomad Road. Six individuals have now been identified as suspects in the case. Four of them were apprehended on the night of July 3, 2025, while two remain at large.

The four suspects currently in custody are:

  • Ilyjah J. Madison (born March 12, 2004)
  • Cameron Nelson (born October 13, 2008)
  • Shaheen Williams (born June 12, 2009)
  • Elijah Winsett (born September 12, 2008)

Each of these individuals faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Armed Robbery with a Firearm
  • Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon

According to officials, Ilyjah Madison is currently receiving medical treatment and will be formally booked once medically cleared. The other three suspects—Cameron Nelson, Shaheen Williams, and Elijah Winsett—are already in custody.

The victim who was shot during the incident sustained injuries but is expected to make a full recovery, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office.

Two suspects remain at large and are actively being sought by law enforcement:

  • Jaquan A.K. McStay (born December 12, 2006)
  • Izaiah M. Harris (born October 28, 2007)

A warrant for Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm has been issued for Jaquan McStay. A juvenile pickup order with identical charges has been issued for Izaiah Harris. Investigators warn that both McStay and Harris are considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jaquan McStay or Izaiah Harris is urged to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 941-639-2101, or leave an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

In a statement, Sheriff Bill Prummell condemned the suspects’ repeated criminal behavior and stressed the consequences of their actions:

“The suspects involved—Madison, Nelson, Williams, Winsett, McStay, and Harris—range in age from 16 to 21. Sadly, they are no strangers to our office. We’ve made efforts to guide them in the right direction, but when crimes escalate to this level of violence, there are no exceptions. They’ve chosen to disobey the law again, and now they will face the consequences. Hopefully, this time, they’ll be sent away for a long time.”

Sheriff Prummell also issued a strong warning to the two suspects who are still at large:

“To Jaquan McStay and Izaiah Harris: it would be in your best interest to turn yourselves in. We are coming, and we will find you.”

He further expressed pride in his team’s efforts:

“I want to commend our deputies for their quick response and coordination in capturing the first four suspects. My thanks also go to our investigators, forensics team, and crime analysts who have worked nonstop to follow leads and collect vital evidence to build this case. Their work is top-notch, and I couldn’t be more proud.”

As part of their ongoing public safety efforts, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that all district offices offer designated safe exchange zones—well-lit, monitored parking areas available for public use, especially for transactions made through platforms like Facebook Marketplace. These areas are under 24/7 surveillance to help ensure the safety of buyers and sellers.

The investigation remains ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any information related to this case to help bring Jaquan McStay and Izaiah Harris into custody swiftly and safely.
