Vega, TX — Kelly Wagner, a cherished member of her community, died following a serious collision on Highway 385

Posted on October 24, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Vega, TX — Kelly Wagner, a cherished member of her community, died following a serious collision on Highway 385 with County Road 26. The accident occurred early in the morning and involved multiple vehicles; although four others were injured, Kelly did not survive her injuries.

Local authorities say the crash happened around 7:25 a.m. when Kelly’s SUV entered the roadway from a private drive, failing to yield to oncoming traffic. The other vehicle, a pickup truck, was traveling south on the highway and struck the SUV head-on.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Kelly was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle during the collision. She was transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away. (KVII)

Four other people — including the driver of the pickup and three young passengers aged 4, 6, and 9 — were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The community is relieved that no further lives were lost in the incident. (https://www.newschannel10.com)

News of Kelly’s passing has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from community members in Vega and the broader Panhandle region. Many have shared memories of her kindness, her readiness to help others, and the strong connection she had to her hometown.

Friends and neighbors recall Kelly as someone with a warm heart and a generous spirit. Her loss is being felt deeply by those who knew her well — and even by those who knew her only in passing. Her presence in the community made a difference.

While investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, authorities emphasize the importance of traffic safety: yielding right-of-way, wearing seat belts, and driving attentively especially on rural highways where speeds are high and exits or drive-ins may catch drivers unprepared.

Funeral and memorial arrangements are currently being made. Family members have asked for privacy as they mourn and process this sudden loss. The community is already beginning to rally in support of the family with offers of help and comfort.

Kelly’s legacy will live on in the many small ways she impacted lives — whether through quiet acts of friendliness, standing by someone in need, or simply being a familiar and supportive presence. In her absence, those memories keep her close.

As the people of Vega remember Kelly, the accident serves as a profound reminder of how swiftly life can change and how valuable every moment is. In mourning her passing, the community also honors the life she lived and the difference she made.
