Vehicle Plunges Into Creekbed, Killing Two Amarillo Friends Beneath ‘Two Baby Creek’ Bridge

Posted on August 20, 2025 by Usainsightreport

In the quiet expanse of Washita County, Oklahoma, a devastating single-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two young Amarillo residents, leaving their families and community in profound grief. On a fateful Tuesday, August 19, 2025, 21-year-old Cicso Diaz and 20-year-old Israel Obando were traveling westbound on State Highway 152 near N2340 Road when their journey ended in tragedy.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the vehicle, for reasons yet to be determined, veered off the roadway to the right in a sudden and catastrophic departure. The car collided with a guardrail and a reflective post, setting off a chain of events that would prove fatal. The vehicle entered a broad slide, careening uncontrollably before striking a roadside sign. Momentum carried it further, sending it plummeting off an embankment into the creek bottom below. In a final, harrowing moment, the car rolled multiple times before coming to rest beneath the shadow of the “Two Baby Creek” bridge.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the devastation was absolute. Both Cicso Diaz and Israel Obando were pronounced dead at the site of the crash, their lives cut short in an instant. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has launched a thorough investigation to uncover the cause of this heartbreaking incident, but as of now, the reasons behind the vehicle’s departure from the road remain a mystery. No further details have been released, leaving many questions unanswered as authorities piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

The loss of these two young men has sent shockwaves through the Amarillo community, where friends, family, and loved ones now grapple with an unimaginable void. Cicso and Israel, both in the prime of their youth, were known for their vibrant spirits and the promise of bright futures. Their untimely deaths serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the dangers that can lurk on rural highways, where a single moment of inattention or misfortune can lead to irreversible consequences.

As the investigation continues, Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are urging drivers to exercise heightened caution on rural roads like SH-152, where sharp curves, embankments, and unexpected obstacles can turn a routine drive into a deadly one. The community of Amarillo, united in mourning, holds tight to memories of Cicso Diaz and Israel Obando, cherishing the light they brought to the world as they navigate the heavy weight of this loss.
